Puppy Dog Cake & Tutorial
I made this puppy dog for a 3rd birthday party. The cake is a white cake, iced in buttercream with fondant decorations.
I started off with a 9 inch cake, 2-6 inch cakes and a cupcake. I cut the 9 inch cake in half then sandwiched the two halves together (for the body of the dog). I cut one of the 6 inch cakes in half and placed them on either side of the 9 inch halves (for the back legs). That's the picture above, after I've given the "body" a crumb coat.
With the other 6 inch cake, I cut about 1/4 of the bottom off for the face. Then I placed it up against the body and gave it a crumb coat.
For the ears, I cut a circle out of brown fondant, and then pulled it a bit to make an oval shape.
Hear are the small round and oval cutters I used to make the dogs spots out of fondant.
Dog Tail!
Here is the dog after I put the snout (the cupcake) on and added eyes and a mouth (with black icing). The tongue and nose are made out of fondant.
My favorite part! The bow! There is also a purple collar between the head and body of the cake, which you can't see. The bow and collar are both made out of fondant.

Zebra Print Cake
This was a two-tiered cake for a 13th birthday party for a friend of mine. The bottom layer is chocolate cake, filled with cream cheese icing. The zebra stripes are made of chocolate fondant, tinted black. The top tier is white cake, filled with cream cheese icing. The entire cake was frosted with cream cheese icing. The numbers on top were made from gumpaste, then decorated with food coloring markers.
Hamburger Time
The "bun" of the cake was made with white cake, covered in buttercream icing. The "hamburger meat" was chocolate cake. I didn't ice the "hamburger" part. The french fries were white cake that I toasted in the oven and the ketchup was red icing!

This was a two-layer 10 inch cake, marbled; topped with a half-ball cake, which was also marbled.
